Paediatric surgery covers a wide range of conditions and procedures, including:

Birth defects: paediatric surgeons are trained to correct congenital malformations such as cleft lip and palate, hernias and diaphragmatic hernias.
Trauma: Children are at risk from a variety of injuries, including broken bones, head injuries and burns. Paediatric surgeons are trained to provide emergency care and surgical treatment for these injuries.
Cancer: Paediatric surgeons work with other healthcare providers to diagnose and treat cancers in children, such as neuroblastoma, Wilms tumour and leukaemia.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Paediatric surgeons treat a range of gastrointestinal disorders in children, e.g. appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease and morbus.
